One lime wedge to another said, "Fate's blind!

 

Though I've been sliced, I'm dropped in here with you -

 

For, beautified by your perfume and rind,

 

This garnish tray becomes a Xanadu."

 

"Quotes Coleridge?" said the other, "Coup de foudre!"

 

And she made eyes as only girl-limes can

 

Twisting her cigarette in subtle mudras

 

That said "yes, please - you may" to her lime-man.

 

They smiled, knew passion, smoked more cigarettes

 

And sparked green envy in the other wedges.

 

They drank no jealousy, sipped no regret

 

And never had a chance to break their pledges -

 

For, faster than those lovers in Verona,

 

Both met cold death alone drowned in corona.
