cowbird bath |
on warm winter afternoon |
a cowbird bathes in the rut of a tractor tire |
his black feathers glisten |
and he shakes methodically, exuberantly |
the only way he knows how |
then arranges himself |
before dipping in again |
and for a moment my cares are eased. |
