[ 1 ] gabriel: "Little did the Cutlers know, I was onto their subtle game even then, before the bottom fell clean out of the central-European spy game. They may look like a straight-and-narrow, all-American family, but these three, especially the young one with his incessant yawning and sweatered pre-paunch, posed the greatest threat to Homeland Security of the century." So, I agree with Brantley (though he said it about a much more recent photo, the escalator): a write-off based on Chris's dad's pictures would rock. I've got a shiny nickel for anyone who can tell who I'm imitating. Tom, you're not allowed to play.

cgroom: I'n not going to take the bait on the question (granted, I have insider info on that). But I wonder, why did you chop the poor statue's head off so precisely? It gives the image weird overtones, to have the three heads so central to the image while the largest object is defined by it's lack of a head. Not bad, mind you, but jarring.

samira: Hmm. I am guessing that they are your dad, his brother, and sister. Except that I thought he had more than one sister. But I know your mom is one of 5 and so I am guessing the other side of the family.

samira: Oh, and I think your dad is the little one.

cutler: The statue's head is chopped off in the original image (this is basically the full frame except for some horizontal trimming to balance it a little bit). Apart from the three subjects' various expressions and the weird people in the background, the statue's headlessness is what drew me to this picture. I think it makes the image more offbeat and interesting than it would have been if they were posing in front of a completely visible statue.
