This photo is pleasing in the way it sinks below the subject's eye line to dwell on the sunlit pregnant belly. It seems very enclosed and maybe busy, but there's no denying the beauty of that belly.
The pregnant body is distinctive in its beauty... like ripe fruit, yet powerful. Somewhat terrifying because it is mysterious, it is a transformation, but mesmerizing, and seemingly pliant and soft, and rounded so it seems less menacing, but so strong. It is indeed a powerful expression of feminine beauty. Without it, I don't think any view of feminine beauty is complete. |

The choice to crop off the eyes is fascinating. It forces you to really evaluate the pregnant body, not the mother's feeling about her own pregnancy. And yet, it is a little weird, too -- it make the picture more anonymous, more of an archetype of pregnancy. Interesting. |

Interesting. I don't find it busy--I like the very natural setting--it seems as if you interupted a private moment, of the mother with her body, but then, as Chuck said, had us join her in dwelling on the body, rather than sharing her thoughts of it. I quite like the background. Also the hair falling around her sholders and the contrast on the swollen, pregnant nipples against the white skin. |
